The Campus

The senior school is set among spreading acacia trees, behind the primary school, in the quiet residential suburb of New Alexandra Park.  With spacious sports fields, flood lit for evening fixtures, the school has a park-like atmosphere, with rolling lawns and a variety of indigenous and exotic trees.
The well-appointed buildings look over the fields and are set out carefully to make best use of the landscape, with sunny courtyards and shady study areas.

The Classrooms
Our teaching facilities are state of the art, with touch-sensitive interactive Smart Boards, which are linked through Broad Band to the internet. Well-equipped Science laboratories and a modern, climate-controlled Computer Centre, ensure that students are exposed to the latest developments in Science and Technology.

A well-appointed Junior Library has been stocked with a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction works and is already proving popular.
The classrooms are large, light and airy with laminate floors, and the pale blue and white colour scheme lends a fresh, Mediterranean atmosphere to the school. The blue roofs look particularly attractive against the cloudless Zimbabwean sky.

The Sporting Facilities
Although many of our sports facilities are shared with the junior school at present, the Academy offers hockey, tennis, football, rugby, swimming, water polo and badminton, here at the school and students play squash at a local sports club. However, plans are in hand, as the school develops, to build a dedicated sports facility on adjacent land, owned by the community. Our sports teams are already competing very successfully against other schools and have toured outside the country.

Art and Cultural Facilities
The Academy boasts an enormous Arts Centre, which is equipped not only for the teaching of Art, but for musical and dramatic recitals.  The open air amphitheatre is also available for Drama teaching and student assemblies and will be used until the hall has been built.  Cultural activities will receive as much support as sporting events to ensure that students are given as well-rounded an education as possible.

Our Staff and the Teaching Ethos
Hellenic Academy has a small, carefully selected staff body, which consists of experienced, well-motivated teachers, all excited and inspired by their subjects and keen to pass on this love of learning to their students. There is a stimulating, academic atmosphere at the school and the students are encouraged to be self-disciplined, respectful of others and socially conscious.

Students are expected to work to capacity at all times and are exposed to a wide range of academic and extra-curricular subjects.
