Dear
Parents,
We
hope that your child has enjoyed the first few days of term and
we would like to give you a few details regarding our school. This
newsletter is an important means of communication with you, please
read it carefully and keep it for references as we have some dates
and duties for you to note.

CAKE
ROSTER : This is now up on the notice board in the driveway.
Parents please make a note of the Friday date when you are requested
to supply a cake. Please try not to forget as the children really
enjoy and look forward to “cake day”.
BIRTHDAYS
: We celebrate this with a special Birthday Ring. Please
notify your class teacher when you would like to supply a cake for
the class to share on your child’s birthday, however, please
refrain from doing this on a Friday as Fridays are our “cake
days”.
LIBRARY
: This only applies to RED GROUP and is held on Fridays.
We find this very successful and it encourages the children to enjoy
books AND to learn to take care of them. PLEASE PROVIDE A CLOTH
BAG, of any size, for the book your child takes out. Please ensure
that the book is removed from your child’s suitcase AT HOME,
read through and put in the child’s suitcase ready to be returned
for MONDAY. Please return the library book on time, thank you. If
you misplace or damage the library book, then you will need to replace
it.
SCHOOL
TIMES : PLEASE DO NOT DROP CHILDREN AT THE NURSERY SCHOOL
BEFORE 7:30 a.m. as there is no supervision before this time and
the school cannot accept responsibility for a child left unsupervised.
Please make sure that your child is at Nursery School by 8:00 a.m.,
this gives your child time to settle and socialise with their peers
before formal lessons begin. You may however, drop your child at
the main school before 7:30 a.m. where our helper, Charity, will
walk them to the Nursery School. ALL CHILDREN ARE TO BE COLLECTED
FROM THE NURSERY SCHOOL BY 12:30 p.m. LATEST. Please be on time
when collecting your child as children get very upset watching their
new friends going home whilst they are waiting for you to come.
Please notify your teacher, preferably by writing, if your child
is to be collected by someone other than yourself. We would ask
that you DO NOT leave your car unattended in the driveway and that
you adhere to the times in order to reduce a build-up in the car-park,
thank you. Our contact number at the Nursery School is 745211 ext.
25.
DROP OFF TIME : 7:30 a.m.
HOME TIMES : BLUE GROUP: 11:45 a.m.
RED GROUP : 12: 00 noon
If
you would like to take your child out during the school term, for
whatever reason, a letter to the Headmistress and to your class
teacher is required, stipulating the dates the child will be absent
from school.
We
would like to encourage Parents to come in to their child’s
classroom and see all their artwork which is often displayed. This
makes your child feel important and proud of their work.
Please could each child bring in a recent FUN photo of themselves
as soon as possible, thank you.
Please
inform the Main Office if you should require other siblings to be
booked into the Nursery School as each child is required to have
their own application form. Any changes of details i.e. address,
telephone number etc., please notify your class teacher and the
Main Office so that our files can be altered accordingly.
We
would like to take this opportunity to request that if Parents are
making arrangements between themselves, that they do so WITHOUT
involving the staff at school. The teachers are kept very busy during
the morning and it is difficult for them to act as messengers. If,
however, your child is going home with someone else, please notify
your class teacher as to who they are going home with. If for some
reason parents are delayed collecting their child, i.e. petrol queue,
bank queue etc. and have made other arrangements, please phone your
class teacher and notify her. If a person unknown to us comes to
collect your child, we will ask for their I.D. number and we will
phone you to confirm.
VERY
IMPORTANT : Please can you ensure that your child is FULLY
TOILET TRAINED before they start Nursery School as you can appreciate,
it is very difficult for the staff to cope with it.
Ensure
that your child brings a raincoat each day during the rainy season
and a set of clean clothes, clearly marked, as accidents do happen.
They also require a sunhat, apron, facecloth, with a tag at the
end so it may get hung on their hooks, all clearly marked, which
will stay at school. Each child is required to bring a drink, we
would prefer water instead of juice, and a lunchbox to school every
day and these too must be clearly marked. Please pack a healthy
break for your child, i.e. a sandwich cut in 4, apples or oranges
cut in 4 or any other fruit, yoghurt, carrot sticks, raw beans,
cucumber etc. are good for your child. Please refrain from packing
sweets, crisps and nuts.
GYM
for both groups is on Friday mornings. Try and remember to send
your child to school with EASY shoes – ones they can do themselves,
and no socks, as this is done barefoot, and girls to wear trousers
or shorts and long hair is to be tied up.
Please
DO NOT send your child to school if they are feeling
unwell. The children actually learn nothing and miserable children
affect all the other children in the class as well as their teacher.
This is requested in the interests of ALL children at the school
RED
GROUP PARENTS : Extra swimming lessons are offered to Red
Group children on a Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. The lessons are taught
by Bronwyn Johns and Sandy Grant. If you would like your child to
do extra lessons, please let me know. First lesson will be on Tuesday
17th January.
Kidzcan
Zimbabwe are fund raising on the 15th February, please send your
child with some money for this worthy cause. Kidzcan is an organisation
that supports and helps children with cancer, so please give generously.
At our concert in November 2011, we raised US$ 1478 and R 207 for
them, thank you to all Parents who gave so generously.
We
would like to remind Parents of the condition of enrolment which
requires a full term’s notice if you wish to remove your child
during a booked year.
Feel
free to contact your class teacher or the Headmistress, Mrs. Middleton,
if you wish to discuss any matters that concern you relating to
your child at school.
We wish you and your child a very happy term.
