If you pass by the art room during class-time, you cannot help but be drawn in by the colourful, creative atmosphere that emanates from within and around this space. For an hour every week, each class has the opportunity to discover, explore and invent. Under the guidance of Mrs Bell, students are given the freedom to use all sorts of different mediums, materials, textures and techniques – and to become enlightened and often engrossed in the process of making and creating.
Each lesson spent in this vibrant environment is not only fun and social, it is also intended to equip the children with valuable life skills. It allows the children to express their individuality artistically, as well as teaching them about group participation and communication.
Art encourages the students to broaden their imaginations and opens their young eyes up to spatial awareness and logical thinking. Perhaps most importantly, it highlights that in art, as in life, it is as much about learning from the process and exploration of creating something, as it is about the final product.
